SHARING CIRCLE: 

Indigenous knowledge holders on staying healthy during COVID-19

Hotıì ts'eeda hosted a live, online sharing circle with Indigenous knowledge holders about COVID-19 on its Facebook page on May 20, 2020. Hotıì ts'eeda is offering the recorded audio and video versions of this panel (available below) for download or streaming (open access).

 

The sharing circle featured NWT Indigenous knowledge holders who spoke about staying healthy while undertaking safety measures in the NWT during the COVID-19 pandemic from an Indigenous cultural perspective. The one-hour panel was an interactive discussion that included comments and questions from residents of the NWT.​

Panel speakers:

  • Respected Tłı̨chǫ Elder Nora Wedzin from Behchokò;

  • Lianne Mantla-Look, a Tłı̨chǫ registered nurse and patient engagement specialist. Lianne is originally from Behchokò;

  • Dr. Nicole Redvers, doctor of naturopathic medicine and co-founder of the Arctic Indigenous Wellness Foundation. Nicole is originally from the Deninu K’ue First Nation;

  • Jennie Vandermeer, a mental health and wellness advocate originally from Délįnę; and,

  • Moderator Dëneze Nakehk'o, a journalist, educator, facilitator and member of the Lı́ı́dlı̨ı̨ Kųę First Nation.
